About Me

My photo
United States
I am a multidimensional, hands-on creative artist and poet with a San Diego based home studio. Having always been too curious and too creative, I have continually studied a variety of artistic disciplines and philosophies throughout my life with established teachers...unstable teachers, artists, schools and whatnot. This, paired with a lifelong investigation into spirituality, has given me a large creative toolkit from which to draw ;) and interest to (respectively) play with, break, challenge, modify, ignore and celebrate the rules related to the aforementioned studies. I am a strong believer in not messing with a child's innate curiosity and wonder, the value of family (however defined), individual creativity, community, and our environment. I continue to study and enjoy creative expressions-with the exception of acid jazz. Some common characteristics found within my work are: re-purposing everyday items and discard-able things, harmonizing opposites, playing with current beliefs and assumptions with a whimsical twist, and delicately blending spontaneity with discipline. The end results are simple, joyful expressions of wonder imbued with an invitation to discover more.

A Walk In The Clouds - Invoking Wonder, Show Invite

Excited to announce my upcoming event:

A Walk In The Clouds - Invoking Wonder by Jennifer Lonack.

A unique art event – guests are invited to kick off their shoes and take a stroll through the first indoor grass filled gallery... sip fresh squeezed lemonade and meander through The Art of The Clouds.
The show features a first look at Lonack's illuminated, colored-cloud sculptures along with other uplifting and whimsical treats.
Evening activities also include live performances by San Diego’s young, talented, singer song-writer James Morris and a chance for visitors to sculpt their own fluffy creations.
A percentage of the sales for the evening will go to the NTC Foundation.
Barracks 19 Gallery 101
One night only December 7th – Starting at 5pm.
2640 Historic Decatur Road, San Diego 92106

Dare to Reuse Contest Update

Happy to announce that the students (4th grade 2011 - 2012) at Old Town Academy's Dare to Reuse Contest winners are on display along with the other 9 winners and 15 finalists at the New Children's Museum in San Diego now through the 31st of January.
One of the pieces (my son worked on) is on the show's banner - fun.

I believe all the kids art deserve to be in the show...

The class was invited to attend a breakfast reception and comp tickets to the museum for the whole family.  I was out of town and missed it, I hope that they have a great time and are inspired to enter again this year - I can't wait to see what they come up with!

Ode To A Poodle

poorest of thee - Simon
  thine endearing,   enduring,
          whitest of canvas

does do steppest
   too closely to artist

and must  thusly   to pose,

with oh so saintly of patience

and one’s
 endless,
    abundant
courage...
