Random Act of Ar~ting - Wood in Grass, Liberty Station, California, USA
The third sculpture from the pieces of wood that were used in Coronado and Pacific Beach...
I came across some scrap wood left over from a skate park ramp project at the YMCA Krause Family Bike and Skate Park in Claremont, and loved the shapes - I immediately envisioned them as a sculpture.
The pieces are cut from a mix of 1/2 and 2/3 inch plywood and I knew, together, they would make a great piece.
The previous two installations were in the sand, grass was a welcomed challenge today and the wind came out to play which plays really well with some new slender pieces that added an undulating movement to the piece.
Again no hardware or adhesives were used.
I love the opportunity to work with balancing the pieces - structurally as well as visually (yum!)
Working in the round, offering the viewer a multitude of perspectives as they walk around the piece, is really exciting too.
